What is the SAAC Walk of a Lifetime?

Walk of a Lifetime is St. Andrew's Autism Centre (SAAC)'s annual autism advocacy walk. This meaningful event champions the cause of autism awareness and acceptance in Singapore. Walk of a Lifetime encourages participants to step in solidarity with persons with autism and their families, fostering empathy and deeper understanding of their lived experiences and challenges. Join SAAC in enabling persons with autism to lead dignified and meaningful lives!

When and where will Walk of a Lifetime 2025 take place?

1 November 2025, from 9am to 11am
Start point is at Marina Barrage

What is the distance of the walk?

The full walk will span 3km, which is about a 40-minute walk. Don't worry! We do have a shorter alternative route for persons with special needs and those who are unwell. Do alert a staff member if you require a shorter route.

Who is the Walk of a Lifetime for? Can anyone participate?

Walk of a Lifetime is an advocacy walk designed for all members of the public, including persons with autism and disabilities.
However, do note that the event is still centered around a physical activity, and those needing assistance e.g. persons with physical disabilities, young children and the elderly should be accompanied.

What is the route of the walk?

Information will be updated closer to the date.

What happens if it rains?

In case of wet weather during the event, participants are advised to take shelter as soon as possible.
Should wet weather start before the event or persist for more than 15 minutes during the event, the event will be called off and participants will be informed via the official Walk of a Lifetime 2025 WhatsApp Community. How does my participation help SAAC?

Your presence and participation in Walk of a Lifetime is key to better acceptance of persons with autism in the community!
Your registration fees, as well as any funds raised, go directly to fund our essential services to benefit persons with autism and their caregivers.

Is fundraising compulsory?

Fundraising for us is voluntary, but highly encouraged. We would appreciate it if you could help to advocate for persons with autism through your own fundraising campaigns.

How can I raise funds for SAAC?

Here are some ideas to get you started: creating a personal fundraising page e.g. running for a cause, birthday campaigns, seeking pledges from friends/family/colleagues, getting your company to do corporate matching.

Are donations tax-deductible?

Donations $10 and above are eligible for a 2.5 times tax deduction.
Please ensure you key in your tax reference (NRIC/FIN/UEN) for tax deduction.

What are the fundraising deadlines?

If you are supporting a family or friend in the Walk of a Lifetime, do submit your donations before 1 November 2025.
General donations are open till 30 November 2025.

What should I bring on event day?

Essentials: Water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunscreen, power bank.
Recommended: rain poncho or umbrella, small towel.

What should I wear?

Comfortable walking attire and our Walk of a Lifetime event T-shirt.

Will there be first aid available?

Yes, there will be medical professionals on-site. Do alert a member of staff or a volunteer should you need assistance.

Will there be food and beverages?

Water points will be available throughout the walking route. There will be no Walk of a Lifetime food and beverage stalls, but participants may purchase them from existing shops in Gardens by the Bay e.g. Satay by the Bay, McDonald's.

What time and where should I arrive on event day?

We recommend arriving early - 8.30am at Marina Barrage (a short walk from Gardens by the Bay MRT)!
For persons with autism and their families, you have the option to attend quiet hour at Flower Dome and Cloud Forest, starting at 8am.

What activities are available on event day?

Rest assured that you will have a fulfilling time at Walk of a Lifetime! Our walking route will be integrated with multiple activities that help you to learn more about our beneficiaries and autism.
